Meet Theresa

Theresa Smith-Hickman is a primary-age special education teacher for Chicago Public School. In the evening, she is an entrepreneur, an author, and an active servant of the community, impacting the lives of others. Also known as Mother Dove, Theresa provides in-person and virtual story times called "Story Time with Mother Dove".

I CAN... Just Try!
As the smallest girl in her class and ‘in the world’ (so she felt), little Terri had many moments where she thought she couldn’t do most things because she was just too little. She wouldn’t even try until one day her attitude shifted. Terri learned the power of saying “I Can” by just trying.
Many kids today are like Terri and struggle with believing in themselves. In fact, some children are so uncertain of themselves, they don’t even try. Terri is now ready to inspire children like herself, by leading by example.
